“A good tank for its price. Euro bracing is done only on the sides (unlike some fish tanks) so hang on filters, etc. can still be used. The green tint of normal glass is obvious to the eagle eyed, but looking at the price, you cannot complain.
The height of the tank is just right; it adds the feeling of depth to the tank. This was what i liked most about the tank.”

Heating cables designed for freshwater planted aquarium, can be used to lay in loops on the aquarium bed before covering the cables with humus-rich mineral nutrient medium. These cables will generate very slight warmth and keep the plant roots warm with nutrients released from the low heat. Plants in warmer aquarium bed usually fares better than those without.

The right kind of light is crucial for photosynthesis in water plants for plant growth. Too much light or the wrong colour of lights used will encourage algae growth in an aquarium.

In order to flourish, water plants need plenty of light from the red colour range of a colour spectrum, with only a minimal blue component and minimal or no UV radiation at all. Whereas algae thrive above all in blue light and a high UV component.

Algae have lived in water throughout their entire evolutionary process, during which they have been exposed for the most part to strong, direct sunlight and ultra-violet light. Most aquarium plants, however, originated from tropical forests. They have thus adapted to the light conditions in the shade of dense tree populations. UV light and light in the blue range is filtered by natural means here. Hence, it is important to use only the right kind of aquarium lights for your water plants. Good lightings will result in healthy growing plants which will be a reward to all freshwater planted aquarists.

Annoyed with nuisance algae growing all over your aquariums? One of the contributing factors of this problem is the existence of high phosphate level in the water. In the freshwater or salt water aquariums phosphates will feed nuisance algae which can overrun plants and expensive corals, spoiling the aesthetic appearance of the tank, and even killing its inhabitants in extreme cases.

Within the reef aquarium, phosphates will greatly affect the formation of coral skeletons by reducing calcification by over 50% and by inhibiting the deposition of strontium. It is suggested by Borneman that phosphates are a direct poison to calcification.

It is prudent for the aquarists to use a good phosphate remover product for curbing the unsightly algae boom problems. There are many phosphate remover products available, which are commonly found in aluminium oxide or other iron based products. Good phosphate remover media should not leach back the phosphate content back into the aquarium once the media is exhausted after prolonged use.

Clear Float Glass is made of molten glass which flows through tweel to tin bath and then to lehr. While floating through the molten tin, the glass under the works of gravity and surface tension becomes smooth and flat on both sides.

Ultra clear float glass/low iron glass is also named Crystal Clear Glass, for they have higher light transmittance (91%) and transparency.

Can you note the difference between the two types of glasses laid side by side while viewed from the side of the glass panel? While Crystal Glass is crystal clear and nice to look at, it comes with a high price tag which may cause the amateur hobbyists to settle for the cheaper Float Glass made aquarium.
