Annoyed with nuisance algae growing all over your aquariums? One of the contributing factors of this problem is the existence of high phosphate level in the water. In the freshwater or salt water aquariums phosphates will feed nuisance algae which can overrun plants and expensive corals, spoiling the aesthetic appearance of the tank, and even killing its inhabitants in extreme cases. Within the reef aquarium, phosphates will greatly affect the formation of coral skeletons by reducing calcification by over 50% and by inhibiting the deposition of strontium. When constructing an aquarium glass tank, the aquarium hobbyist may choose between two types of glass to make from: Float or Crystal Glass. Clear Float Glass is made of molten glass which flows through tweel to tin bath and then to lehr. While floating through the molten tin, the glass under the works of gravity and surface tension becomes smooth and flat on both sides. THE most comprehensive proposal to save Singapore’s coral reefs yet was released on 23 April 2009, Thursday, calling for the government to formally recognise the richness of reef habitats like Raffles Lighthouse and Cyrene Reef in the southern islands. Highly prized by many hobbyists, Apistogramma is a genus of as many as 250 identified species of fish from the family Cichlidae distributed in the tropical areas of South America’s small streams, oxbow lakes, Amazon basin and Venezuela. Most species are strongly sexually dimorphic, with males generally larger (up to 9 cm) in its small adult size and dramatically more coloured to the females.
